Writing about self in third person

Two questions, first is the applicant statement section on form I-601A. Do I have to write anything in there to queue the adjudicator to read my hardship letter?
Also do I refer to myself as US Citizen or can I use I,me, my name etc etc? And do I use alien for my wife or applicant or her name? Thanks

In your hardship letter, introduce yourself and the applicant then use usual pronouns to refer to both.
