    Medical examination for NIV?

    Hi!

Does anyone here know in what - if any case it is required to undergo a medical examination when applying for a NIV? All information I have read online supports that it is only for IV a medical examination is required.

The reason I wonder is because of a case in the local media here, where a girl, that was charged (and accepted a fine) for public drinking, had to undergo a medical examination for a NIV.

I just cannot seem to find any information that warrants a medical examination for a NIV. Does anyone have any information at all regarding this?

Certainly can happen as you evidenced, not a standard requirement.

I find that extremely weird. What is the legal basis? DoS explains the legal basis in INA for IV, but nothing about NIV. Almost makes me think that the embassy did a mistake in her case. Especially seeing that I, and others I know, have gotten a waiver from the controlled substances inadmissibility without the examination.

To examine someone for tuberculoses when they're not immigrating seems absurd.

Depends on? Going to renew my waiver now, and I am hoping to avoid an examination, seeing that scanning for tuberculosis and so forth costs a fortune..

My Mum had TB so I have been checked more times than I can remember, if you are clear I doubt it will come up. I assume cost depends on where you live, a no cost option for me.

    Fingers crossed, then

Do you have a tip regarding to primary occupation, btw?
What is the best way to put both studying and working in the DS160? I study full time, and work part time, but I feel like the work is kind of important as well, seeing that I have worked at the same place for several years.. What is the best way to put it?

Hmm.. Find this difficult. Since studying is my full time focus, and working is like 20h a week..

Another option is to choose "other" and write in both.
