    Aloha!

    Good afternoon all!

My name is James. Met a Canadian gal October of 2016, hit it off really well, and things got serious. Fast forward to February, we got engaged, I was still working and she took a trip offered by a friend to Australia (she had been in and out of US - Honolulu, HI - during that time). When she left from Hawaii, she had no return ticket to Canada. Not sure if that flagged her, but as she came back from Australia to Honolulu, HI, CBP pulled her aside and began to question her. Fourteen hours, 6 personal item searches, and an electronic search of her phone later, she received an order of expedited removal. For the first 4 hours of that, I was sitting outside of Honolulu International Terminal, in uniform, waiting to pick her up.

That was March 3rd. I am a USC and uniformed member of the US Navy. I immediately took emergent leave, was with her on March 5th, and we got married March 7th. It was ahead of our original plan of getting married in August, but we felt that it might help things along if we just went ahead and pulled the trigger. It's been a trying road, although I know not even close to what some of the other members here have endured. But for everyone, the process is painful and I send out much love to all who have completed, are currently in progress, and who are thinking about immigrating.

As for myself, I have served for 20+ years, have about 3.5 more to go, at which point I will decide what my real adult job will be (kidding, of course!) My reason for joining the forum? I have been lurking and gathering intel on more specifics of my wife's case, and while this has been a tremendous source of help, I still have a few more specific questions, and felt I should at least say hi before I pick those brains for answers.

Thanks much and wish everyone the best!

    James
