How long it takes for Administrative Processing

    Hi,

I had an interview with an consular officer in Montreal on Nov 14 2016. On the interview day, I forgot to bring my W2. After the interview, the officer ask me to submit the W2 via email. I did as he instructed.
I been waiting for 3 month till this moment, and i have not received my visa.

    I check this site https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTrack...KjMWCuebHqOw==
and it keep say still in administrative processinh.

    1. I don't know how long the process will take? officially it will take 8 weeks, but i been waiting for 12 weeks,
and there is no sign of my visa.
    2. Is there any chance that my visa is being denied. My case is F1 for spouse of US citizen.

    thanks,

Sadly, it can last indefinitely - there is no real timeline other than a best guess. And Montreal is notorious for delays. That all being said, 3 months for a missing document is a little long. Have you thought about contacting your local Congressman/Senator to see if they can help? Sometimes if they poke their noses into a case, some information pops up so that at least you can get some answers (doesn't always work but it might help).

There is always a chance of the visa being denied, depending on if they find information that would make you ineligible. Short of that, it sounds like you're stuck in their terrible limbo.

    Good luck!

You can use the usa.gov site to find your local Representative and/or Senator: https://www.usa.gov/elected-officials

I would also highly recommend reading the sticky on contacting them and what you should know/what you can expect: http://immigrate2us.net/forum/showth...Corin-in-Exile

Thank you for your information. I've read somewhere on internet. They said that senator might not have authority over the consular officer, sometime it could make the consular officer getting frustrated, and it could be worse. I don't know if that information is true or not.

    thanks,

Well, it's true that they don't have authority over the USCIS in any way because they don't. However, when your case is outside of the norm, they are a great tool to assist you. And yes, there is always a chance that they could make consulate frustrated, but again, this is something that is outside of normal processing and they are doing a simple check for answers, not asking for favors. Many on our site have used their Representative/Senator in the past for situations similar and have had no issues (again, this is not for frivolous matters). Up to you whether this is a route you wish to pursue.

Since the Consular keeping the passport, and we don't know when they will issue the visa. My spouse passport will be expired on Feb 2018, is there any way that my spouse can renew passport without the old passport?

    thanks,

AP does not have a norm.
Nothing in life is guaranteed, especially anything to do with Immigration.

    thanks,
This is a question you'd have to ask the Canadian consulate about - not sure what their rules would be. But this is another point that I would bring up with the Congressman/Senator if you decide to contact them.
