    How long does it take?

How long after biometrics are done does it take to get an interview date? They told my husband that he would have to go to Pittsburg because they don't do it here in WV......this really sucks. Years ago they did it here because we know 2 people that got everything done here.

From biometrics to interview date it took five and a half months but I think our particular service center is really backlogged. It took four and a half months from biometrics to get our interview notice. From notice to interview my husband had 5 weeks. Perfect amount of time to study. :-)

Here is the link to the offices and processing time. https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do I wouldn't put much weight into the processing times but you would be able to find the field office that is closest to you. That is where they do the N-400 interviews, etc. Good luck!

Here is a summary for a recent case that went through Pittsburgh. Should give you a rough idea of timelines for that office.

Oh my mpls-mexico it says they are still in 2015. My husbands green card has to be renewed in May 2017......guess we will be paying more money for that. Wonder what will happen when we renew the green card cause it looks like we will still be waiting on an appointment for the citizenship test.

You don't think you have enough time? I would hope that you would have it done by December. We are in the waiting here in Kansas City. They are saying 5 months so we shall see. Fingers crossed right!!!!

Our service center says they are still working on files from October 2015! So don't use that too much as a guide. My husband's green card expired in Jan 2016 and we filed in Dec 2015. We cut it close. He was still "in status" while we were waiting but his card was expired. If he had wanted (or needed) to travel he would have had to pay for a new green card. So we probably should have thought of that but luckily there weren't any emergencies!

You do NOT have to apply for a new green card while this is in process. I would imagine that all the citizenship stuff will be done WAY before May 2017.

Our service center is notoriously slow and behind and ours was finished in 7 1/2 months (from initial filing to oath ceremony). I bet Pittsburgh is faster! The wait from biometrics to interview notice feels like forever!

    Concerned

So I checked the Pittsburg PA processing times and it says they are on January 8, 2016. Hubby didn't do biometrics until July 12, 2016. He has to renew green card in May 2017. I'm worried that with where they are now he wont have an interview by May. Do we go ahead and renew the green card? We were told we should start that in November 2016 because it takes awhile for that to. Any thoughts?

This site is helpful for N400 timelines and gives you a more accurate idea of current processing times. I think you will be just fine and will not need to renew.
