Icon12 Hello everyone- there is still hope!!

    Good afternoon to everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone on this site know how grateful I am for all your information. I am a US Citizen married to a citizen of Honduras, who migrated to the US EWI on 02/2001. After numerous attempts of trying to file for his green card here, he was denied. We got married in 04/2006. We continued to try to adjust his status here with no results. We became scared and desperate, because we could no longer renew his driver's license. My husband left the US voluntarily on June 20, 2011. During this time, we had to reapply for all the paperwork and pay the USCIS a fee for a notice of action on our closed case from before. It took a while, but finally in March 2012, we received a notice that our case was being forwarded to the national visa center. May 2012, we received a notice that he was scheduled for his visa interview July 9, 2012. And just like we expected it was denied based on his illegal presence prior. We had to file a I-601 waiver, which I did because I could not afford an attorney. I am on a very tight budget having to support 3 children and help my husband out from time to time. Once we filed it, it was received on August 14, 2012. On December 11, 2012, another notice asking for more evidence was sent and I almost had a nervous breakdown. They said the evidence previously submitted did not show the extreme hardship? Well, as I was crying and ready to give up, I got on my computer and started to type. I wrote everything that I was going through and how many times my son cried at school and questioned his father's absence. I sent them copies of all my monthly expenses, from rent to tolls, pictures of me, my husband, and my children. I wanted the person who was reading this to see who we were. I sent letters from my children's pediatrician and schools. And finally, on January 4th, 2013 our waiver was approved.

I write this to everyone on this site that is going through this process not to give up or feel negative. I know the USCIS/NVC ask for a lot of paperwork and other things but please understand that they also want to protect us from the wrong people coming here. We have been patient and there were days that I did not feel like things would go in our favor, but I never lost hope. My faith really kept me going.

Thank you to all of you for always posting.

    Helen

Congratulations on your approval and your positive outlook! Both are very good to hear!!

Hope this next year is great for you guys!
My husband EWI from Mexico in 1991, and we married in 2011 and filed the I-130. By February 2012, he had his visa appointment in Juarez, and we were one of the first Lockbox filers in July 2012. It took us less than a month for approval! No lawyer used, but only because the one we initially retained turned out to be horrible. Don't make our same mistake!! Use an experienced, recommended attorney!

Congratulations! Happy stories are so helpful, especially when things start to seem bleak and unending.

I am also married to a wonderful Honduran man. We have been doing the "two country marriage" thing for 3 years now. Thanks for your words of encouragement. Every time I talk to my husband on the phone of visit him, it is so obvious that he is "the one" and it is worth every bit of suffering. Hopefully we will never take each other for granted, it is such a wonderful gift to have love in my life, even if he lives a thousand miles away.
We seek solace and comfort with family and caring friends. We will never give in. We will never give up.
What we want is to live, united, as a family.

Without family, the world is a cold, dark place.
