    Lint on clothes

Hi everyone, I now have a washing machine but no dryer. I can dry the close on my patio or on the roof in the sun. But, they are coming out with lint on them! How do I prevent this? Is this where fabric softener comes in? Thanks!

I get that a lot too. Fabric softener does help some, but not much for me. we usually have to go over everything with tape. I seldom hang them to dry for that reason. I would love to know how to remedy this, I actually like hanging mine out to dry!

I don't have an answer for you either. Before we got our dryer we just bought tons of those sticky Scotch lint rollers and had them all over the house, in the glove box of the car, a mini one in my purse, etc. I would be curious to see if there's a solution to this problem! I would like to line dry again once it gets warmer because natural gas is so expensive here...

Ooof, I have the same problem. Have you thought about a lint (fabric) shaver. I exhausted all my lint rollers and cannot buy refills here. Life is much easier with my washing machine now though I wish I didn't have a lint problem. I don't even know what we are gonna do when the baby comes....it can take up to 4 days for clothes to dry on the line here because it is rainy season and soon winter will be here.... *sigh*

The internet says to put a cup of vinegar in the rinse cycle. I bought the vinegar but haven't tried this yet. It also says something very common sense that did work for me: don't wash towels or other linty things with clothes that you don't want lint on I never even thought of this, but it definitely makes a difference hehehe.

I would agree with Paradise--I always wash towels separate from clothes.

That is what I was going to say paradise, but wasn't sure if it would sound to obvious. I wash almost all of my own clothes in cold and hang dry because I am tall and have a hard time buying clothes that fit in the first place (legs, arms, torso, is often too short.) so there is no room for shrinkage. I wash jeans only with dark dark colors (black or blue shirts.) Sweatshirts can also cause lint on dark colors so I am careful about mixing lighter colored sweatshirts or linty things with darker colors. (if I put a grey sweatchirt in with my dark tshirts the tshirts end up with a light colored linty film on them I also have lint brushes in the laundry area and my bedroom. (The red fabric kind that you brush in one direction.) Sometimes a damp cloth can help wipe off lint on dark clothes. Other than that I am not much help fabric softner has helped slightly.

Did the vinegar help at all?
    Our timeline so far:
January 2008: hubby and I get married
After a lot of bad advice, and a false start w/an immigration "expert" I finally find I2US, read everything I can, and eventually begin the process.
May 14th, 2010- first appointment, eligible!
July 15th - waiver appointment in CDJ
July 20th- DHL arrives. Approved! Thank you so much I2US.
