I'm just anti stereotypical posed pics....sooooo that's where my dillemas lie...lol
Somehow, I knew you wouldn't be for the "prom" poses! I say more formal dress, a bit casual on the poses. If you explain to the photographer what you're after, he/she should be able to come up with some ideas - these people are creative! But, a really sweet pose is the baby between you guys, you and hubby each holding a hand, looking down at her. Not too formal, not to relaxed... There's a ton of ideas, but what they have for props usually inspires me. If you're sitting, you could sit in a chair with baby girl on your lap, hubby kneeled down beside the chair looking at you both. Or put baby girl on the floor with a Christmas book and go from there. I did this one year, and got a fantastic picture of my girls on a chair beside the fireplace with the older one reading a Chrismas story to the younger one. To this day my favorite picture of my girls. Give baby girl a Christmas book, a present, a toy or something similar and she'll provide you plenty of opportunity to interact & get some great shots.

I think cc is right about the colors - I'm not sure I meant a dark royal blue, but a brighter blue to offset the fuschia. That color combination looks great, and keeps the pictures from looking too "prom-ish" by having the same color on everybody. Just don't put baby girl in Christmas red - it will look horrible with the fuschia!

Ana cute dresses! I like sweetz idea of picking up one of the colors in the waistband. The tan would look good, but to me, Christmas is all about rich colors. I think a brown/gold combo for you and hubby with some red picked up in accents/accessories would look great! JMO!

Thanks for the suggestions guys!!! I love your ideas! I looked at the bands on the dresses and it gives us a lot to work with. There is gold, dark pink, deep purple, lots of green, and some other colors. Ii love purple, so I'm set! I think hubby will go with green or even blue. I like the idea of lots of color in the picture. That way I can do a darker background that suits the winter season (even though it's not too dark here in CA!). We need to go shopping! Should be fun. We should at least look half as good as the girls...

sweetz - I like laury's idea of the three of you looking at a book or something. Also, poses on the floor are a bit more non-traditional. Maybe hubby lying on his side, propped up on an elbow, with the two of you behind him?
