12 months old. he is the sweetest dog ever. believe me everyone, huskies are awesome. they're a pain in the butt if they're not trained but they're very loving and awesome with kids.

let me know if you can see the pics. Alonso i was in chicago yesterday for few hours and omg it's beautiful but chilly lol
    Luv, Your dog ist beautiful.
Years ago, when I lived with my bf at the time we had 2 huskies. They were brother and sister and impossible to be seperated and 2 times the trouble. He did not train them very well, and I am sure you know what happens when you dont train huskies well. They took over my house, would not listen at all, I spoiled them like crazy and they always loved to sneak out roaming around in the woods. The bad news is that they always ran to my neighbor and killed their chickens. Not sure why they did this but I sure got alot of calls from the police department.. urghghgh.

haha oasis, you made me laugh. i understand what you went through. When we first got him as a little baby. we bought him an inside fence but he would figure out how to get out and how to jump. huskies are very smart and sneaky. Loki ate the toilet plumbing. flooded our bathroom. our neighbors ceiling and bathroom was also destroyed. that cost us way too much money to fixed. he chewed our carpet, door, wall, he ate so many cables and chewed on scott's game. there were times when we wanted to get rid of him but those blue yes got me hooked. but it was our fault not buying him a kennel. i spoil him way too much and that's why he doesn't listen to me. But the little butthead is finally trained and he's a perfect angel.

I landed in chicago and decided to walk around searching for Uno pizza. i didn't find one lol. instead i got a cold because i was wearing top and short. grrr but i'll admit, i think scott and i should go there for a week or so

anasmom. im in sacramento/ yuba city right now for 2 months visiting the in laws. Would like to get a bite to eat or something. let me know

Not all dogs are outside dogs. (Personally hate to see any dog 'living' outside.) Before getting a pet, one must think about whether the pet is going to be inside or outside and what level of energy the dog is going to have. If inside, then let it stay inside. Take the time to discipline it if that's an issue. Spend time with the pet regarding the energy level.

A month ago I read a request from someone wanting to rehome their dog. Actually there were 2 very similar requests. Both were expecting a baby and one stated that the dog was too energetic and the other claimed attention issues. Did they not know what the energy level was going to be of the dog they got? The other...why did they get a dog in the first place when they're going to give it away when they expect a new addition to their family?

Then the dog has to pay. So easy, eh? Poor dogs.

No offense and please don't take it as so, but people need to determine 'before' they get a pet.

update on our situation....during the day our dog who is 5 months old is outside primarily. in the evening she comes inside when my husband or son are home. there is no way i can keep her inside during the day w the baby mostly because of the lack of sleep i get i cannot pay attention to both of them. we are in dallas so for the most part do not have extreme weather issues, its a big deal to even get to freezing temps here and we hardly ever get snow. last year it snowed 4-5 times and it was a big to do. our garage has a doggy door which connects to our laundry room that also has one. her bed is in our laundry room. i would still like to buy a dog house so during the day she can go in and sleep or what have you. i am not giving her away, because although i did not want a dog i fell in love with her when he brought her home. it is very hard to keep up with her because we are not on the same page....thats the main problem here. i would really want her inside more but he would rather her be outside more. as far as exercise we make sure she gets at least an hour of running with us in the evening (my son or husband) but she is still a very active dog. sorry it took forever to post but a newborn is very time consuming! thanks everyone for your help!

I don't agree with the outside dog thing. I have 3 pit/pitmixes and they are all inside doors. Some dogs are not meant to be outside and they get lonely. I don't see the point of having a dog if you're going to stick it in the backyard. To me, a dog is part of the family.

You should see if there is a dog daycare you could take your dog too so he can have less energy. Also, a flirt pole is a great way to get energy out of your dog. I'll use it for 15 minutes with my most hyper dog and she's wiped after. It's basically just a cattle whip that you put a rag on and they chase it. You'll have to teach your dog to release though (with treats).

You could put some hay in a dog house and some people put heat lamps but you need to be careful. I have no idea what the right way for it to be set up is though.

Is there a way for you guys to run with her in the morning as well? Her energy will die down..eventually.

    Where to start?

I agree, "outside" dog is not the way a dog is meant to live. Dogs live in pacts, they need the company and they learn to behave by you being their leader and how can they do that unless they spend time with you? Of course, I don't have a baby either, so I'm not sure how my feelings would change then.

I have three dogs, big dogs, and they're all inside. It's been really hard with hubby because in Mexico you get a dog and chain it up on the roof. My dogs are part of the family and inside they will stay. They were here long before our baby but they know that she is above them in the pack. We've had issues changing things but that's part of adapting.

I've seen a lot of animals in shelters due to families moving, not enough time for them, new baby, sudden misbehavior. Anything that you can think of there's a dog inside a shelter because of it. I don't think it's fair for them when we are their voice and we are to do what's best for them. There's a lot of things to think about if you're going to leave your dog outside. What if your dog jumps the fence? What if your dog digs under the fence? What if it gets loose and hit by a car? What if it barks while you're not there and your neighbors get fed up and shoot it? What if it gets heartworms? What if it has a heat stroke? What if the chain gets tangled and it gets strangled? What if he gets into poison? What if he licks antifreeze? What if it becomes flea or tick infested? What if someone comes into your yard and it bites someone. I mean, anything could happen. Did you know that the majority of animal bites happen with the dog on the end of a chain?

You can't just put the dog outside and expect it to entertain its self. A bored dog can be a destructive dog whether it's inside or outside. Dogs need lots of exercise, attention, and love. Maybe this could help explain more. http://www.paw-rescue.org/PAW/PETTIP...ckyardDogs.php
