Anybody been asked for a non existence of marriage certificate?

My husband's case is under administrative processing at CDJ and now they are asking for a non existence of marriage certificate for my husband. Never heard of this before and don't know where to start looking.

    Anyone have any idea????

I not sure but I think what they are asking for is proof of a valid marriage, picture's stuff like that and the marriage certificate, AP is about 6 weeks so you should hear something soon, hopefully someone will chime in,

I don't know for sure, but it sounds like they are trying to verify your marriage certificate with a database? Perhaps something went amiss when your marriage certificate was processed. Just guessing really, but you might try to check with the courthouse and make sure they have records of your marriage.

Thanks for your reply Mosqueda7777 but I called to ask and they told me he needs something oficial from his home town other than the marriage certificate. Apparently their is a thing called a non existence of marriage certificate.

You should try going to the records dept. of the city or county where they give copys of the certificates and ask them. They should be able to help you out.

He went to the courthouse where we got married and they told him that certificate is only for people that have no existing marriages and they could not provide him with one since he is married. So he will go tomorrow to the city records division to see if they could help him.

By the way can anyone guide me on how to attach my timeline.

hmmm....i know when my husband and i got married in mexico, we both needed to show that we weren't already married. i had to get one from here, and they just wrote me a letter. but my husband had to get a specific form from the registro civil where he lived showing that they had never issued a marriage certificate to him. maybe they're looking for something showing that they have no other record of marriage for him? if that makes sense? obviously they'll have yours on record, but maybe they need something showing that it's the only one? good luck! i hope you get this figured out!

Thank you all for your input, I am hoping the Centro Archivo in Guadalajara will be able to help my husband tomorrow when he goes to ask for this.
