i loveeee watching this show!!!! every wed. 9pm, re run at 10.. Nat Geo.. love it!!

diskoviking, i agree on what you said about the woman who he said she won't be able to come for 3yrs.. I was shocked by that statement also, I almost wonder if he does really know it isnt 3years and that they say that to make the gonverment look good.. hence the reason most americans say..."well why don't they just get visas and come here, it's so much easier!!" blahblah..lol but i do love this show..lol

I doubt the announcer knows anything about immigration at all, his job is just to read whatever script the producers feed him. A voiceover artists main talent is the ability to speak clearly in a pleasant voice. it is not an easy thing to do, actually.

I don't think there is a conspiracy to minimize the penalties for illegal immigrants just to make the government look good. I think it is more likely that the producers are simply ignorant, or that they get their info from CBP, who are not exactly known for being up on the intricacies of US immigration code, either.

I Love this show. It's funny the last time I crossed the border in San Ysidro I told the officer "hey love that Border War show" he said "it's good right" I was like "yes, I enjoy watching it." Then he was like "Some of my friends told me I come out on it, Have you seen me?". I was like "no, but now I'll look for you" and he just laughed. Yeah but it's a good show. I have cried on two episodes when this guy that is about 20 yrs old and he got deported so he is despretly trying to cross back because he came to the US when he was 2 yrs old so this place is the only thing he know and he feel scared to be out in TJ. The other one was about a girl who got the 3yr ban when she went to CDJ for her interview. She said that her lawyer told her she would be back in less then 3wks which not true. She has her 5 yr old son over here and her husband so she want s to be with them. Even the officer wanted to cry. She said that she will keep trying until she crosses.

I could not be a border patrol officer. I seems as though it would be a difficult job now matter if you are dealing with a bad person or a truly good person trying to get back to the only home they've ever known.

I don't think I would have any moral dilemmas with being a Border Guard, it's a job and someone has to do it. I don't think I would particularly enjoy having to send someone who are just trying to work or reunite with their families back knowing the ramifications of that, but on the other hand it would also be an opportunity to explain the law and hopefully prevent someone from making future mistakes that can make their situation worse than it already is. I also think that it must be gratifying whenever a drug shipment is intercepted, and working outdoors can be nice.

I would be concerned with my personal safety in remote areas, though - just as I would be concerned with my personal safety if I chose to be a Police officer. You never really know who you are dealing with when you try to apprehend someone.
