I'm going to sticky this and we can add to it.

One thing that I disagree with is the toys. Unless you are at home and can check on the dog, I would not put anything in there. You never know what they could choke on. They could get the squeaker out of the toy and choke on it for example.

    Where to start?
I am a U.S. citizen and my spouse/fiance is or was present Illegally - what do I do?

I'm glad you mentioned the squeeky toys. I've been leaving one in the cage although he's never bit into it - but one never knows - it could happen. I'm taking it out right now and putting it away now....DONE!

I've not left any of the knotted pull toys out that have the threads on the ends in event of chewing those off and choking. At PetSmart a gal wanted me to assist her with leashes and toys and I advised against these with threads. I really don't know what the significance is of those threads dangling. Maybe I'm missing something?

Eating string is bad? I know it is for cats but I wonder about dogs.

I wouldn't leave anything because you never know what they could start chocking on. Even the bedding you have to be careful. I have found several comforters chewed up.

Toys with squeakers last exactly 3 minutes in my house. Any plush toy actually.

I had to look it up because I figured it could harm them. I did see advise somewhere on another link about Christmas trees and the tinsel (mentioned here) and needles falling on the floor. As for the comforters and quilts, that's a good point too that we can overlook. I had an older handmade quilt and the edges were worn allowing the stuffing, or whatever you call it, to be pulled out. I saw small pieces of it on the bed so they might've pulled some out. I did away with it also.

Pet Safety Warning: String, Thread, Yarn, Rope Toys, Etc. Danger!

Never let your pet play with String, Thread, Thread Spools, Yarn, Rope, String Toys, Rope Toys, Dental Floss, Fishing Line, Christmas Tree Tinsel, Shoe Laces, Etc. (or anything like this.)

These items can be very dangerous to your pet. Small (or large) lengths of string can be inadvertently swallowed and lodge in the intestinal track.

The workings of the intestine can cause the string to work like a cutter, causing damage and even death.
