Somebody without papers is most likely using that SS#. You're now seeing the other side of the situation.

You should call the Social Security Administration.

if it is his ss number and it doesnt match go see social security. someone else may be using his number. if someone else is using it. it may cause a bunch of problems down the road (id theft). check his card also to see if the name is spelled correctly.

Could it also be possible that it just has not been updated in the ss system...I 'think' I recall others having some trouble with ssn mismatch in the first couple months after the ssn was issued. Honestly, my husband has been back over 7 months and I don't think he has tried to use his ssn for anything yet...he's not working and we haven't had to have him apply for any type of credit, etc...

Hope you get it worked out

You can go to the SSA office and have them print off a paper saying that this name matches this number.
Also, ditto to chapital. It is a new number and we even have problems with my hubbys number now, two years later, because it is a "new" number.

to all the above or it might be too soon. I had the same issue about 6 months after I was approved. Now it's all good...I guess it just takes time for SSA to record it.

When the number is run and nothing comings up that's because it's new. But that is entirely different than running the number and having someone else's name come up. Two completely different scenarios.

Thanks everyone, hubby actually went to the temp agency and asked them about it. The lady he spoke to over the phone was "new" and didnt know how to read the e-verify. The boss lady showed him the results that it DID match up.

Either way you should be able to go to the social security office and request a paper saying that the name matches the number. When my husbands SS card was stolen they wouldn't give a new card but they would give a name match paper. Hopefully it would satisfy whatever the temp agency wants.
