I'm quite sure there are more than a few athiests on the forum, but apparently none feel the need to discuss their beliefs, at least not here.

I am an Atheist. I was actually raised a Baptist minister's daughter, just never really believed any of it. Religion has really never come up here, I shy away from it because I have no problem with those who do believe and try not to impose my thoughts on others concerning this matter. I do not like being torn apart or 'preached' to and I try not to do it to others. No point. I like to dwell on what we have in common, not our differences.

Also, letting this cat out of the bag usually puts me in a bad position on forums that have a lot of Christians as members, atheist are some of the most hated in the US. I think people actually have more problems with me being atheist than I do with them being Xtian. I am an officer in the Arkansas Freethinkers Assoc, and did hold office in the American Atheist for years.

now, having said all of that, I do listen to Xtian music once in a while, I play Xtian music on the piano for my grandfather at times, I love hearing old favorites of my mom and dad's, it does invoke wonderful childhood memories, I had such wonderful parents who gave me a wonderful childhood! I also like to reply to the prayer request threads, just let people know I am thinking of them and wish them well. I never have portrayed myself on here to be something I am not nor would I, I am not ashamed of who I am or what I do (or don't) believe. I do not feel like I am to well liked anyway because I am outspoken sometimes, or seem to be. In real life, I am very quiet and rather shy. I was afraid letting people on here know I am atheist would cause them to shut down any write me off altogether. So yes, there are atheist here I am one! I do not get into debates on these forums, this is an immigration forum. If I want to debate I will go to a forum for such things.

If you are an atheist and feel the need to discuss, the Heathen Hangout has an ongoing immigration thread and is geared for atheist only. Friend me on Facebook, about 60% of my friends are atheist, the other 40% are Xtian.

Don't worry or feel apprehensive about sharing things. The religion section of this forum is not a place to debate whose religion is better/worse/cooler and why, attempt to convert others, or tell others how/why they are wrong to believe what they believe.

We can all learn to respect each other despite political, religious, lifestyle, etc, differences and I think the religion section of the board can demonstrate that despite the higher concentration people on this board who identify as Christian and Catholic.

Lol! I was just being silly This is not the appropriate site to discuss or argue about religion! Especially because most of the people on this forum are religious, like you said. I was raised Christian, my grandparents were and continue to be pastors and my parents were once pastors as well. They have divorced and my mom continues pastoring with my step dad. My dad knows that my husband and I are atheists but my mom doesn't and it will probably stay that way for awhile My younger sister, 16 years old, also knows and I suspect my dad or maybe my step mom told my grandparents, my grandma hints it at me Lol My husband and I are soon to be 24 and 22 years old but either way still very young and also parents to a 3 year old boy. He has only been to church twice, because I was visiting my grandparents, and just heard about Jesus and God through his babysitter about 2 months ago. We were sitting at the table about to eat dinner and I asked him "where are your manners?" (he knows he's suppose to say thank you because I gave him his plate) he bursted out with "thank you Jesus for this food"...I was speechless but it was funny! I asked him "who!?" and he looked up! Lmao He isn't old enough yet to understand religion. He knows Santa isn't real...

I have never taught my kidlets anything about a Santa Clause (other than he is a Xmas myth) Easter Bunny, tooth fairy, Thor, Zeus, etcc..you get the picture. Kids ask questions, that's fine. Although I would not appreciate a babysitter tell my child about anything religious at all. It is a parents job to tell them these things if they are so inclined. I have no problem with the idea of you keep it to yourself and I'll keep mine to myself, but if you start advertising and proselytizing , I will as well. I always amazed me that a catholic, a baptist and an atheist could all live in harmony in the same home together, yet people out in the world have such little respect for individual beliefs that they can't seem to get along.

Would your babysitter have appreciated you teaching her child the theory of evolution? or about other gods throughout history? something people should really think about before opening their mouth. I had one woman tell my son he would go to hell since he didn't believe, he told her he would meet her there! I consider this crossing the line, and was furious. further more it was a public school teacher who told him this?!

    to each his own.
