Pet went missing during fireworks. People just don't realize it's true that this happens.

If you go to any sites about pets having gone missing because of fireworks, you'll find many that have. I've seen several on Missing Pets USA - solely because of fireworks.

Realize that it doesn't have to be fireworks only. It can be a loud noise from a semi truck's tire blowing, a hot-rod car burning his tires, thunder, a passing car blowing his horn unexpectedly, and you name it...think of all the loud noises you yourself hear but wouldn't be bothered by hearing. Ask yourself, could this startle my animal?

More and more I'm hearing about the animals bolting when they've been out on a potty break irregardless of in their own yard or in a rest area on an interstate. And some didn't have a collar/tags on and worse so, no microchip.

I even read about one that ran when they were in a car accident on the road.

It happens everywhere at any time.
