Oh my gosh I am crying just thinking about it!! I can't wait until this day for us. I see you can take photos - that is great! Do you know if you can take videos too??
My oath was on November 13th 2008
We arrived at 7.30am for 8am. There was a small line (20 people) outside the courtroom. We joined the line. A USCIS employee instructed us on what would happen. Starting at 8am they let us in one by one checking our form and id and taking our Green Cards from us. We sat in front of where the judge would be. When all of us were in (30-45 minutes later) they let the relatives in. Luckily I was on at the end of a row and my fiance was right up by the judge so we had a few good pictures. We were given a letter from the President, a copy of the constitution and the declaration of independence. The judge arrived at 9 prompt. We all stood. He talked for a few minutes about the rights and responsibilites we would have. We all stood raised our right hand and repeated the oath after him. He congratulated us and left. It took 10 minutes! We stayed seated until we received our Naturalization Certs. There were people waiting to ergister us to vote outside.
I went and photo copied my cert (3 copies) straight away. Then I applied for my new SS card (hadn't updated it at GC time). I also applied for my passport. We went out for a fabulous meal last night to celebrate. I feel glad the process is behind me. I had an easy quick road compared to most, but still felt nervous until I walked out yesterday.
I wish the rest of you the best on your journey here.
