    Knitting

I was perusing iTunes podcast section a moment ago and saw a few podcasts dedicated to knitting, crochet, and other thread crafts.
I bet you girls probably already know about them, but I thought I'd share in case you hadn't.

For real?! Excellent! My friend taught me the crochet basics last fall, and then I went to nexstitch.com to get tutorials on the more advanced stitches. You know about that one? It's here. Very good, methinks. And I'm an idiot at these crafty type things.

I'm just stupid when it comes to thread crafts. I just can't learn. I have no patience for it. Thread crafts are NOT for people like me who love instant gratification. However, I did embrioder my son's clothes for a while. It was cute, but I can't say I enjoyed it.

But I really do have a large appreciation for the craft!

Okay it took me at least 10 minutes to figure out a slipknot and then another 15 to get the first stitch through the hook and now I'm well on my way to a chain!!

I'm taking up this craft and I have a pattern for a baby quilt for my SIL (she's due in May so I have a bit of time to work with). These patters are written in Chinese even with an abbreviation chart.

So it says Afghan ch155 loosely....that means my initial chain is 155 hooks right? or just about? then I stop and look at the next step?

Tropi, I never saw this, but yes, CH155 means to do 155 stiches for your first row!
Let me know if you have other questions. I don't look at this tread much, but if it's active I might

i like crocheting, but my knitted products look better...i hardly ever do either due to patience issues. i owe my SIL a pop top crochet purse in a hexagon pattern (i've posted pics of this elsewhere) so i have to get that done before july...

I can crochet, enjoy doing it very much, but I would LOVE to learn how to knit. The website tutorial you posted for crocheting is fantastic! Do you know of any knitting tutorials like this crocheting one? I have a very nice sewing machine I have never really used, I would LOVE to learn how to sew better than I do, but that's another thread.
