We stayed at Hotel Granada #4.

We paid $36 a night. It's about a 5 minute drive to the embassy.

    Perks:

$36 a night for single queen size bed
5 minute drive to the embassy
short drive to a mall (with movie theatre inside)
Hotel only a few months old (so nice furniture, clean, nice bathroom)
Wireless internet and 2 public computers (if you don't have a laptop)
    Cable TV
    Pool table
    Foozball (sp?) table
a really good breakfast restaurant across the street

    Drawbacks:

You can hear the outdoor's noise really strongly. Lots and lots of honking.
No restaurant inside the hotel and no pool

Highly recommended. You get a lot for the price. There are 4 hotel Granadas, but make sure you look for Granada #4.

Any taxi driver will know where it is.
    Edit:
    For San Pedro Sula:

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Sula.

    Perks:
    Free Wireless internet
    Cable TV (flat panel tv)
    Bar & Restaurant inside
    Nice Pool
    Souvenir/Gift shop
    Fridge/microwave in rooms
    King size bed
    Balcony
Across the street from the town plaza
Lots of places to eat close by
Lots going on around the area
Market place 5 minute drive (or less)

    Drawbacks:
Paid $105 per night (kinda expensive)
Hotel is old... needs renovation big time

Recommended, if you can afford to pay that price! Good for a couple of nights, not long term stay.

    La Mosquitia

I have never stayed here. But I think Mosquitia is very close to the border of Guatemala. (Don't quote me on that though). This hotel looks so beautiful....

Intercontinental has nice rooms, good souvenir shop, pool, internet, but the restaurant is a disaster. Eat at the food court in the mall

Loved the Hilton Princess. Order the Desayuna Ranchero. Great food, nice pool. One block from the mall

I always stay at the Humuya Inn. I have tried several others, but they take the best care of me. A little pricey though.

The Macarthur is cheaper, and not a bad hotel, but you have to go thru bad neighborhoods to get there.

ps I love Zambrano. There is the Caserio Valuz if you can stand TOTAL peace and quiet (except for the gallo del infierno).

When we are in Copan Ruinas, we stay at the hotel Camino Maya. They have internet connection, restaurant, comfortable, price ok

Valle de Angeles cute little town with cobblestone streets, restaurants, souvenir shops, horse and buggy rides. One hour from capital. Hotel Posada del Angel has a nice pool. Great scenery! Take a lot pictures $45 a night

FYI, as most people know there is an airport tax when you leave the country that was $37 but it has been increased to $60. They haven't said when this will go into effect but they are planning to include it in your ticket price instead of paying it at the airport.

I am in Roatan right now. We are renting a room for $150-month which is cheaper than most hotels. I am here 14 days here but it still made sense to rent it for the month. Lodging in Honduras can be cheap if you are adventurous (for an American). For example, we have spent $12-night in Trujillo within a walk to the old fort and the beach. But there was no AC and it didnīt look pretty. Upon inspection, it was clean, just not freshly painted. I donīt have the money to spend on American styled hotels so we go Honduran style when I visit.

    Mosquitia is close to Nicaragua.

Copan is gorgeous, we also spent almost nothing on the hotel. That region is cool at night, so you really donīt need AC at night, even in summer months. We stayed in a hotel next to an English school on a side road and it was super cheap, I think $15-night.

Comayagua is wonderful. We spent $20-night last April and had a gorgeous huge TV and AC. Walking distance to 5 very very very old churches, museum, very nice and relaxing. Especially after our interview at the embassy which went so bad. It was a hotel close to the entrance of the city, we told the taxi driver our range and he took us there.

The airport departure fee has definitely increased (in April 2012) but it is not $60 USD, that seemed to be the rumor though. It is approximately $38 USD. They will give the dollar change in dollars but the cents will always be returned in lempiras. They never accept exact change (why charge 37.80 if you won't accept 80 cents?) so you will always get some lempiras in return.
