[B]Nov 30th 2008[B]---Left USA to come back to England and try and figure out how to get back!

you know they never asked for an interview?that's odd
Did you have the AOS interview? We had that, but it's not common to have a waiver interview, especially when filing in-country.
You should have your card within 2-3 weeks, but the best bit is getting the "Welcome to the United States of America" letter - I bawled like a baby then showed it off down the pub!
