How do you obtain the criminal records and fingerprint information from the states for your Mexican fiancÚ? I am asking for a friend of mine, but did not have to get one for my husband so I'm unsure of where she would. Thanks everyone

Hi, I just went to the S.C. Law enforcement Division for my husband's records, because he only lived in S.C. Go to your states law enforcement's division and if he's lived in another state, check there also.

    Ok great thank you

Do you know if they will release the records to the fiance( the us citizen)? And does the us citizen have to go to the county office or to the state capital?

I don't know about fingerprints, but criminal records are generally public records, and anyone can request them. Sometimes they will charge you per page to print them off. I know some states have a public website where you can search anyone's criminal history. Idaho's is idcourts.us, also known as the Repository.

I would check with the courthouse in the area that he lived in.

Probably not, best way to get that information is FOIA (Freedom of Information Act.) Those are a long process though. There's a thread on it in the forum, if you need more info. There might be another way to get deportation information, but not that I know of.
