Does she know the INA code she was banned with? The INA code should look something like:

INA (a) and a bunch of letters and numbers following that.

The INA code will usually be able to tell how long she is banned for/what type of ban she has/what type of relief is available to her.

She may also do a FOIA request with (probably) Customs and Border Patrol, but this can take a while.

    Does she have a A #?

Thank you for the fast answer...
I talked with her and she has no INA,to her knowledge.....

Can't she call the Consulate or Embassy?

She had a marriage that went wrong and no green card due to the overstay prior to the wedding...

I am pretty sure that the overstay was for one year, only one overstay.

Now she do not know if she has a ban and how long it is....

So the FOIA is the only answer?

    Thank you again!!!!

When and where was she denied entry?

Did she leave the US after not marrying on, what sounds like, a K1 visa? Is that when she tried to re-enter the US and was denied entry?

Usually when a person is denied entry, the person is given reasons why. Usually the officer will somehow cite in a passport or give the person a piece of paper citing the laws and reasons they were denied entry.

The FOIA is not the only way, but if your friend has no A #, does not recall why she was denied entry (she should have something about why the officer denied her entry), that may be one of the ways to find out what is going on.

The reason I'm asking about the INA codes is because those are what officers normally cite the person with and those codes explain everything about a ban. She was refused entry, but there could be so many reasons why.

Is she trying to come back to the US now? Who is petitioning her or what type of visa is she trying to enter with?
