    Chicago Interview 11-07-11

My husband's interview was scheduled for 1045am, but was not seen until 1145am.

He dressed in business attire for the interview.

He had to go through security first. After security, there was a check in window where he had to present his appointment letter. He was given a pager and was told to go sit in the waiting area.

His pager never went off, but an officer called his name and my husband was told to follow the officer to a small interview room.

Before the interview started, the interviewer (who was a male) made my husband swear to tell the truth before the interview started.

They sat down and my husband was basically asked all of the questions on the N-400. This part took 5-7 minutes.

He brought all of the required and requested paperwork, kept it well organized in a folder, and presented it professionally when he was asked for certain pieces of evidence. The officer took about 5 minutes to review all of the documents which included taxes, ID, old passports, selective service, etc. The officer was typing notes while this happened.

The officer then asked my husband if my husband was ready to answer the civics questions. My husband said yes. This is what he was asked:

    - What group of people was taken to America and sold as slaves? (Africans)
    - How many amendments does the Constitution have? (27)
    - What is the name of the current vice president? (Joe Biden)
    - What territory did the US buy from France in 1803? (Louisiana)
    - Who was the first president of the United States? (George Washington)
    - Why did the colonists fight the British? (high taxes, British army occupied houses, lack of self-government)

My husband answered all 6 questions correctly so was not asked all 10.

Then my husband was told to read a sentence. He doesn't remember where the sentence was from or what it said.

After that, he had to write a sentence and the officer dictated the sentence to him. He doesn't remember what he wrote. He said both sentences were short and relatively easy.

The officer then told him "Congratulations!" and was told to go wait in the waiting room for an oath ceremony letter.

Our location does same day oath ceremonies, but my husband's interview went too late so his oath ceremony is TOMORROW!
