I used to love my job. I was a super secret squirrel I was a crime analyst. Not a forensic analyst like on CSI or Abby from NCIS. I looked for the bad guy based on the description and use my mighty crystal ball to predict when he would hit again if it was a series of crimes. If you were walking in your house while your house was being burgled (not robbed) and saw the guy with a flame neck tattoo and three inch scar on his cheek I would be the one to look thru our database or other stuff to find him. I would find stolen stuff that was pawned and locate the bad guy that was dumb enough to leave his name. Kids that posted pics on facebook or myspace of their graffiti artwork. Unfortunately I was moved to a different unit (budget cuts) where now I only run numbers all day long and only occasionally get to do fun things or help out on cases instead of running reports.

If I could have any job:

Investigative/Intelligence analyst (my old job LOL)
    Ultrasound tech
    College professor for Criminology
    Cake Decorator
    Event Planner
Child Tester person (I know I'll get yelled at by our teacher friends LOL) - I was tested for Gifted as a child and have a degree in Psychology with a focus on children but the actual job title escapes me at the moment.

Guedez, I've never even heard of a crime analyst! That does sound pretty cool! Hopefully you will be able to get back into that kind of position soon.

Thanks for sharing everyone. I really love reading about what people have done or are interested in...there's definitely a mix of people who hate their current job and those who have worked or are working in their dream job....I hope to be there myself someday!

Doing the same work I do now but in a different setting. I currently work at a large academic medical center but there are many other options. I would be interested in a research facility for medical devices/pharmaceuticals or in a crime lab. When my husband's waiver was processing I seriously considered applying for a job in Calgary, Alberta, Canada working in the crime lab doing histology and autopsy support. I don't feel comfortable enough now to venture out into the research sector of my field because hospital work is steady and reliable. The pay is a little less in a hospital although still very good.

I have a Master's in psychology, have worked in IT management for nearly 20 years, retired from the Navy, and what do I want to do? Open a coffee/tea shop. A cool, jazzy, intimate one. One that doesn't have a full menu of food, but has a "snacky" menu.... scones, artesian breads, quick sandwiches. And of course, cool decorations - eclectic stuff from all my travels in the Navy, comfy chairs, a place to encourage talking and friendship (HA! There's my psych degree at work). And of course, wi-fi.... Yeah, when I win the lottery so I don't have to worry about paying bills....

I'd love to be an immigration and/or criminal defense attorney, but I don't have the undergrad GPA I'd need to get into law school. :[

I actually like my current job (ESL teacher in Korea) but long-term, I would need something that pays better. I've dreamed of becoming a midwife or at least a doula and also a lactation consultant, perhaps teaching ESL on the side and doing freelance translating, which is something I really love! The problem with all of this is that I need to be employed in a stable field that qualifies my family for a visa, and also the birth and lactation-related jobs would require medical training that I totally lack, so who knows if those would ever happen. But we sure can dream!

This is a good question. I sometimes still think I don't know what I want to be when I grow up and I'm already 32 years old.

    My dream jobs would be:

    *journalist for a newspaper
    *professional translator
    *teaching ESL for adults
*teach those who are illiterate to read/write

Right now I work as a caseworker at a middle school. I do enjoy the work but maybe one of these days I'll take the plunge and switch to something else.

I love my job, labor and delivery/postpartum RN. Although at times it's really hard! The highs are really high and happy but then
the lows are really low and I hate my job! But for the most part it's great! Last week one day the doctor didn't make it for the delivery so another nurse and I delivered the baby! It was awesome! The pt came in at 0315 and delivered at 0328! That's the way to do it!

I think maybe someday I'll go back to school to be a nurse practitioner in either OBGYN or pediatrics.

And I have to say ever since we started this immigration stuff that really interests me as well and I think and immigration attorney would be awesome too!

I'm currently an English major in the creative writing program at my university but I work part time at s portrait studio... It's an easy job with very sucky pay but I live being behind the camera, so Id say freelance photographer would be my dream job but not what I'm doing now. I'd like to have my own studio and have my equipment and know how to use that and photoshop...
Also, a lawyer... Law has fascinated me since I was in high school and I participated in a law forum in DC but I seriously doubt I'll have the qualifications to make into law school. :-(
Still, I think I'd love it...
