I regret buying my house...issues etc

I hate to be saying this but i hate the house i bought. I bought this house a little over a yr ago when the government was giving the 8k incentive. I started looking for a house just weeks before the incentive was to end so i didnt look around much. My main complaint is the most expensive...the foundation, it didnt appear to be a problem when i bought it but has turned into one now. Just thinking of the $$ i will have to spend to fix it makes me sick. ive even had nightmares about it! Also weve already outgrown the house. the house itself was small and i figured us and 2 kids wed be ok (its a 3 bedroom) but financial reasons my MIL moved in and had tons of stuff and we are now cramped big time. She is not leaving anytime soon , there is no date in mind it could be years. even if she werent there i think the house is still way to small considering we have family over alot. That and it doesnt have a dining room, we have a small table in the kitchen. I cant try and fix it and sell it because i have to live in it 3 yrs or i have to pay the 8k back. After the 3 yrs and after fixing the foundation, we have 2 choices,,,add another bedroom and a dining room or sell it and find something bigger. What would you do? Did you have to remodel your house? any tips etc stories etc thanks

I've had to remodel houses, but I only do cosmetic remodels. I always start with a floor plan I like, because adding on to a house usually sucks, and it's expensive. And in the end, unless you pay someone big bucks to make it blend, you can usually tell that the house was added on to. The first house I bought had a really small kitchen, a really small useless room behind the kitchen (the only thing it had was a set of stairs to get up) and a really small dining room. We hired a contractor to knock out walls and combine all three rooms into one large eat-in kitchen. It was gorgeous when it was done, but it was 6 weeks of pure remodel hell. If I were you, I would sell and start over. You don't have to fix the foundation. It must be disclosed, but you don't have to fix it. And it can be really expensive. Then you get to pay for additions. Just my opinion....
