Joyabaj is about 1.5 from Santa Cruz we pass thru there when my husband picks me up from the airport. My husband will be in Santa Cruz this Thursday to go pick up his police certificates. I know how you feel about getting used to their lifestyle, my mother in law and sister in laws wash clothes by hand. I did it when I was there but am so glad I have a washer and dryer here in the US. It made me realize how much we take things for granted. Good Luck with your case, and have a Merry Christmas!
  5. I am currently waiting for my husband to return from Guatemala. We started the process to legalize his status in June 2009 and have been going through all the ups and downs that go along with it. He went to his first appointment the consulate July 23 2010. He returned August 2 2010 to turn in his waiver packet. I have found that my lawyer has given me false information since the very beginning. She told me that he would be back within a month seems to be ignorant on the way cases are processed in Guatemala. Now, after finding this site, I have discovered that it is very likely he will be there a year. I have found that most people going through the process have the same feelings as I do. I am heart-broken and miss him terribly, we also have two small children. Is there anyway to get his case expedited?
    Thanks,
    Martha Jimenez
