Hi everyone, I just went online and saw that my I 130 got approved and they sent me a package. It took just only 2,5 month for it to get approved! What do I do now? How much time will I get before interview? Can anyone tell me what will be in the package? My HSL and waiver are not ready at this point, how much time do I have!? Pls give me an answer? What am I looking as far as timeline? I was hopping that I won't get anything at least until middle of winter and I am just shocked, seing that form got approved in a such a hurry.

don't panic-you can take your time with things. send the money and info in that packet when you can...if it gets close to a year, that's when you need to contact them to say you want to keep your case open. :)

Are you filing out of country? Usally you don't get an interview for about a year (depending on where you are filing really) after approval and that is if you send in the other forms in a timely manner. Congrats on a quick approval I wish mine would get approved. What is your time line and where are you filing?

Marina, try to take it easy and think positive. You petition was approved and you did not have to go to the Interview for that – that is a +.
I am assuming that you are submitting for the Immigrant visa. Most likely papers would go to the National Visa Center. Did you already have papers like “agent of choice”? Did you pay for it?
Until you got a papers stating that “you file was completed with the National Visa Center and send to the appointed consulate” you still have a long way to go. Even when papers send to the Moscow consulate ( in your case) you can always contact them and postpone your Interview. We were rescheduling ours 3 times and it was not a problem.

Congrats of approval. You are one step closer to the end of this nightmare.

This is my timeline, if it helps (through CDJ). My interview in September is 1 year and 3 months after my I-130 Petition was approved last June.

Filed I-130 on March 6, 2006
Received Approval on June 13, 2006
Received/Completed NVC Paperwork June-August 2006
Case forwarded to CDJ in September 2006
CDJ Appointment on September 11, 2007

If you want to slow down the process, don't return the NVC paperwork right away. Good luck:)

Thank you Ginger and everyne, yes, my paper has been sent to NVC. Haven't got anything yet from them, so looking forward to pay some more money! How do you like the new prices on paperwork? Anyway we will use Laurel for our waiver. Ginger you give so many good advices to people. How long does it takes from NVC to interview in Moscow? I understand it could take up to three months for NVC get their stuff done. How long from there?

Marina,

I did not go throught the Moskow’s consulate so I have no clue on their timeline. But you can look on their website
http://moscow.usembassy.gov/consular/consular.php?record_id=ivisas

Also, over here you can read about how to schedule visa appointment online
http://moscow.usembassy.gov/consular/consular.php?record_id=ivinterv

and here you can see what cases scheduled when http://moscow.usembassy.gov/consular/iv_dates.php

So, pretty much it sounds that you will have to schedule an appointment yourself as well as if they posting appointments till October, it should give you at least 2-3 month in advance and you would be able to arrange your traveling.

Hope it would help.

Yes Ginger you are right and it makes me very happy knowing that one day it will be over. I am just saying that it is alot of trying to call and reminding people and deadlines.
