I was able to communicate with my husband, and he is NOT signing anything! YAY! He is still in the county jail, and he will be moved to the Lumpkin detention center in Georgia within a couple of weeks. I have got to find out how to get a bond hearing. I can't afford an attorney, so I am going solely on faith and prayers. Does anyone know how I would do this? Does anyone have a number for ICE where I could actually get information on his case? Every number I have is automated, and I can't talk to a person. I am going loca!

sorry about u just getting the automated response. the problem is that they wont have him in the system yet because they dont have him in there custody yet. but usually u can call the prison that he will be in when he gets there and talk to them to find out more. when my hubby was being detained i called the place he was in and talked to a deportation officer. i hope u find out whats going on soon.

He was picked up by ICE yesterday morning, and they are the ones who are holding him in the county jail. They tried to get him to sign the deportation thingy last night, and he said he wanted to talk to his wife first. (good hubby!) I guess I will have to wait until he gets to Lumpkin.
Does the bond hearing have to occur BEFORE the master hearing? I mean, is there a slim time frame for us to request the bond hearing? That is what I am afraid of... I don't want to miss the opportunity.
PS-- was the immigration officer a jerk? Just curious!

well my hubby was told he would see a judge and he never did. he was in the immigration prison for 2 weeks and sent back here to mexico. some of them are jerks sorry to say and some can be ok. alot of them take advantage of there job and rank. See in ny when they got caught they would stay right in ny till they were sent back. So ice came yesterday and just left him in the same jail or moved him to another one? I will try to see what numbers i can come up with for u to see if i can help u out a little i know how hard it is when u have to do it all by urself.

They moved him from Franklin Correctional facility in Bunn, NC to Alamance County Jail. Franklin is where he served 6 months for the felony (non-aggravated, thank God) of "Failure to Stop for Accident.) Since his time maxed out on Monday, they had to hold him because ICE had a detainer on him. So, they held him at Franklin till Tuesday, and ICE picked him up at 8:30 am. They transported him to Alamance County, and he is being held there with a bunch of other detainees until a bus can come get them and take them down to Lumpkin in Georgia. They said detainees are usually held at Alamance County for a couple of weeks before going to Georgia.

Apparently, they do not have one in North Carolina-- but luckily I'm in Missouri, so once he gets out (IF he gets out) I have heard that I can have all his stuff moved to Kansas City so we don't have to travel for his court dates.
