Okay there is alot I can say about this film! The movie is long but I liked it. This movie is VERY gruesome so be careful if you have little ones. I applaud Mel Gibson for trying to be as authentic as he could with the cast (they are either Mexican or Central American). Yes the movie has subtitles since they are speaking in the native Mayan language! If you have the time check it out!

it is a great movie! I actually went to see it opening day in a theater. It was great on the big screen. The cinematography is spectacular. Most of the actors are Mexican and Central American actors, but there was a lot of controversy in Guatemala when this film was first released because modern day Mayas were concerned that the movie only showed one aspect of the Mayan civilization.

I know the lead actor was not Mexican or Central American, he is Rudy Youngblood a Native American with ties to the Comanche, Cree, and Yaqui tribes and was raised in Washington State, and Canada.
This movie was great and was filmed near my husband's hometown in Veracruz. I rememeber that last scene where the Spanish came up on the beach in Veracruz, when we were there 2 weeks ago made me feel like maybe I am standing in the place where history happened. Kind of neat!

Yes, I loved this movie to!!! The cinematography was fierce. I loved how the Mayan language was used. I also like that it was filmed in Veracruz (my husband's home state) :D.
