Summary, J1 visa holder overstayed just over a year. We met about 1/2 way through this time. Proposed, two days later got caught by green shirts. Released on bond. Have attorney. Nothing done yet, waiting for first court date. Have not filed any paperwork yet and will probably be married soon. Was wondering if we should wait for scheduled court appearance which I'm assuming is a deportation hearing or should we start the AOS process right away.
