I used to post on here all the time as ShyGirl, if any old members are still around. I stopped posting because it was just too depressing for me and I thought for sure I'd get denied. (overstay AND misrepresentation)
Well....we got approved!!! We picked up the visa yesterday!
We actually handed in our waiver in Feburary, but I wasn't processed until April because some of the certificates had expired and it took forever get the updated ones again.
They processed the waiver in April and it was approved on July 13 (Friday the 13th :OS ) We started this whole process in 2004 (it took a year for me to write the letter, get evidence) and finally we are seeing an end to this dark tunnel.
Thanks everyone for your help, I love this website!

If you have signifigant evidence, it's not too hard to get. You just need to start gathering your evidence ahead of time. I asked for signed letters from my doctors here in Peru, I also got letters from doctors and family back home.
The wording of your letter is the most important, followed by AMPLE, but quality evidence. Basically, just make sure you have evidence to BACK UP any hardships you are claiming, but not much more than that. Don't overload them with evidence!
Good luck!
Thanks for your replies everyone! This just goes to show you can get an approval for fraud/misrep. WITHOUT a lawyer.

I certainly remember you. I think we had our first interviews at the same time (although a continent apart). I am so happy to hear your good news after such a long haul.

Congratulations!!
One question....My waiver was just approved and they told me to go to another interview because my last one expired (was on may 2006) my question is do they give you the visa right in that moment. They told me the only thing I needed was the waiver approval which was filed in ATL, when they informed you that your waiver was approved in Lima you went to the embassy and they gave you the visa just there or they kept your passport and send it back by DHL?
Thanks!
