The dough is the hardest part of this, this is my American version-I'm not expecting you guys to make fry bread:) This is much easier.

Take bread dough and roll out into large circular portions-think bigger then buenelos but smaller then Elaphant ears. (They will rise in frying pan). you want one for each person your serving. You will then heat some frying oil in the deepest pan you have. You're aiming for golden brown BUT not dark/burnt!

Prepare meat by frying (no oil needed) in pan. Think taco meat, it should be about that size. Heat up beans, and mix the two togeather. Add salt and/or pepper to taste. (but note that bread will be a little salty so don't over salt)

Chop lettuce, onions, tomatoes and set a side

Grate cheese and set a side

Top each bread with meat/bean mixture, add lettuce and vegies. Then top with salsa, taco sauce, or sour cream and finish off with a big portion of shredded cheese.

You'r done! You've officially made Authentic Native American food. When I make this I usually have a big bowl of soup to go with it. Pasole is a good variety, or you could make another Authentic dish but you have to use rocks:(

I always see ground buffalo in the store and have wondered what it tastes like..... I have Osage ancestors which are related to Sioux, so I wonder if they ate something like this.

Anyway, fried dough is something that I can defiantely NOT have at this point in time because I am watching what I eat. Any other more "light" recipes for buffalo?

You can make buffalo hamburgers or use buffalo in stews (use the stek kind, not ground)..Other then that i'm not too found of it. I know what you mean the fried dough is not healthy. I'm also trying to watch what I eat. So this recipee is off limits for every most likely ;)

Sorry, but I'm going to have to know about the rock soup! I remember reading a little story back in grade school about rock soup and it had a recipie in it. My class made it, but I'll never rembmber the recipie. Could you tell me a little more about it?
