How should I file? I think I would file "married but filing seperatly" right? Well then what do I put down when they are asking for his ssn etc.?

You can get in a ITIN# from the INS so that you can do your taxes together, you use that in place of a SS# for tax purposes

If you print out the forms online its free to get a ITIN#, if you go to a person to get one it is usually $50 but you get it there and then

I'm pretty sure she can claim you. She is, after all, married. Have her file married filing jointly with just her income. Also, a donation is a donation no matter which country it is made it...but if it's over $200 she has to have a receipt. I'm not sure the specifics on this. Have her talk to a tax specialist here...there is a lot of advice floating around for free.
Good luck!

There is no reason to file "married but filing separately" as you will incur a big hefty tax liability. There is no reason why you can't file "married filing joint" even if only one person had income.
Please remember that the new IRS regulations have changed and you need to submit our form requesting an ITIN number with your tax return.

Hi i'm new here and i was wondering how do u get the ITIN number? I want to add my husband to my bank account, but they ask for that number. I've heard u can only get it when u file ur taxes? He's never filed them.
