Does anyone know how you can get approved without an interview? Just curious, I know with our luck (and lack of evidence for his arrival) that we wouldn't be one of those people.
Wouldn't that be nice, though?

I think there is always an interview. I don't think you can get approved without one.

Thanks Meesh - I just love the heck out of her!
It has happened, it is possible. But I have no idea what are the odds, nor the criteria. I believe that it happened to at least one of the pre-I2US-crash-members, eau_xplain. I distinctly remember reading her excited announcement, she just got a welcome letter in the mail one day, and that was it. never an interview.

There are numerous cases on various immigration boards of there being no interview required. As for the criteria, there has been much discussion with no real indication as to how it is determined who has an interview and who doesn't. On reading the Adjudicators Field Manual, it does state the following.....
15.1 Interview Policies.
(a) General . [Revised 11-23-2005] In accordance with 8 CFR 103.2(b)(9) , an applicant, a petitioner, a sponsor, a beneficiary, or other individual residing in the United States at the time of filing an application or petition may be required to appear for an interview.
An interview of an applicant or beneficiary shall not be conducted unless required by statute, regulation or policy instruction or unless a material question of fact cannot be resolved without interview. Conversely, an interview should be conducted wherever there are questions regarding material facts which cannot be effectively resolved in another fashion.

If you have a conditional card also, you may need to attend an interview to remove the conditions and get the 10 year card. When my husband went for biometrics to remove conditions, they told him that if he submitted evidence of the relationship with the I-751 then he won't need another interview. (yeah, well we shall see)

if i remember correctly. there has been at least one person from north carolina that had an approval without an interview. she used to post in the forum. that was at least a year and a half ago or two years. but you never know. it would be like hitting the lottery. i can only remember the one on this site.

We have our AOS interview scheduled for Sept 26th. On another website i have looked at how many people have an interview and it seems like most do but a few get transferred to CSC. We recieved our NOA1 on July 10th, had the biometrics Aug 6th and our interview is Sept 26th. This is 76 days from NOA1.
I dont know if there are specific reasons why some do have interviews and some dont? Maybe if evidence is submitted with the I-130 they dont? I will ask the group on the other site if they sent evidence with the I-130 or not and see if it reflects this on an interview or not?

we did not have an interview. We filed for Fiance visa, 1601, married, filed AOS, EAD. Received Greencard, never got any notice about EAD. Never applied for AP. Never had an interview for AOS. Our case was also transferred to CSC.

Which Service Center did you complete your AOS in?

These days it's very common for AOS to be approved without an interview - especially cases ultimately transferred to the CSC.

If there is an interview. Is there a thread somewhere here that talks about the interview experiences? Ex: what questions are asked, what to bring, etc ?

It happens A LOT. If your AOS is sent to CSC it is usually approved without an interview. Usually people who just married get approved this way as they are only getting a conditional greencard and have to apply for permanent residency later on. If you want more info on this go to www.visajourney.com
