I'm just wondering if there is anyone else from Ukraine that is going through the I-601 process.

If so, what is the timeline?

Also, I've heard that some are being sent to Warsaw for their interview instead of Kiev, is this true?

Thank you, any information would be appreciated.

This link will take you to a spreadsheet of all the members of I2US who have filed all over the world. http://immigrate2us.net/forum/showthread.php?t=61

You can look at other's timeframes to get some idea of how long it might take.

I have not heard of others going to Kiev for their interview but things can change in immigration without notice.

Hopefully some others filers from the Ukraine will soon chime in.

Good luck and welcome to the I2 US site.

The site is just getting back up to speed and many members have not re-registered so keep looking. I am sure someone will be along to exchange information with you shortly.

Hi,
Member Ginger is from Ukraine, and she also went through Warsaw. She was answering my question about whether to file as a fiance or get married (I am from Belarus, and the procedure is similar: all immigrant or fiancee visas cannot be issued in Minsk, Belarus, but should be issued in Warsaw, Poland). At the same time, Moscow has jurisdiction over your I-601 waiver. That's where the confusion was. Here is a part of Ginger's reply to me:
"if you are applying for visa in Poland, your waiver would not go through the Moscow, it would go through Vienna because there is where Poland sends all its waivers. I know that for the fact because I am from the Ukraine, we went through the Poland (Warsaw) and our waiver was send to Vienna ( then Frankfurt but that is a different story)."
You can also ask her for timelines. She received her waiver and a visa already.
Hope it was helpful

Hi and welcome to this board!!!

I am from the Ukraine. This is what I know (bare in mind that this is an info from 1-2 years ago): before Ukrainian citizens were going to Warsaw to apply for visa to the US. Later on, tourist and K-1 (fiancée) visa were moved to Kiev’s US Embassy and Immigrant visas were going to Warsaw. About 2-3 years ago immigrant visas was allowed to be processed in Kiev and Ukrainian citizens were NOT allowed to go through Warsaw,

We were given a choice to go through Warsaw or to move our papers to the US Embassy in Kiev because our case was in Warsaw since 2003 or so and at that time Ukrainian Citizens were still going through the Warsaw. We opted to go through Warsaw. I am sure that you can find info about it in the US Consulate in Kiev website.

When I was doing research it looked like Kiev sends papers to Moscow. As I have mentioned in other posts of this site, I know girl who went through Moscow’s waiver process and it took her 10-month in 2005. In 2003 other person tool about 15 month. So there is your timeframe.

I hope that this info would help.

P.S. From our experience, as of 2005, US Consulate in Kiev did not reply to email, letters from the lawyers,….. We were not able to get any info from them in writing. I hope that situation have changed now.
