Why is it taking you (M&M) so long to pick up your VISA

Mexico has a horrible backlog of waivers. Now they are approving them faster (instead of 12 months closer to 9-10 more or less) but now they cannot handle the number of pick up appointments. So they pushed the backlog from the waiver approval part to the pick up part. Now it's up to 4 months for pick up appointments.

SEG 79: CONGRATULATIONS ALL OVER AGAIN and you will bet that I want to be your friend. I am twice as old as you are and I am looking to you for advice -- can you believe that. Bring your wife home and enjoy your life but don't forget about all of us just starting this process. We all need some of your luck.

I guess Mexico has a huge backlog of cases. That is absolutly amazing. Well, congraduations on your approval, and I know how much it hurts to be apart.
Everyone, if you have questions for me, just let me know and I will respond to them as soon as possible. I am away a lot, so it may take up to 5 days to respond to any questions that are asked.

Congratulations on your approval!

Kitkat- is the overall length of time per applicant going down at all for CDJ? or is it just a shuffling of the numbers? Or- is it just too soon to tell what the long term implications are until the backlog is cleared?

TO EVERYONE INCLUDING SEG 79: What did you mean when you said you missed your first I-130 interview because of the Guatemalan mail. Is this the same as the I-485 interview that they conduct in the US.? Also, what was the date of your first interview that you missed?

SEG79, did you register with the USCIS website to get e-mail notification of any action on your case before you missed your interview?
SEG 79
08-04-2007, 03:39 AM
Yes, and in fact they notified us that our I 130 was approved via the internet; However, when the national visa center sent our case to Guatemala, the Department of Homeland security was in charge of the case. The USICS was not involved anymore to my knowledge? I recieved no notification about our interview appointment in Guatemala via mail until late November, 2006. Our appointment was for early October. I got suspicious and emailed the embassy in late October, 2006.
They emailed me back within a week informing me that I had missed my apointment.
What is the point of the story? Well, when your case is approved by USCIS, then sent to NVS, then sent to your spouses home country, remember to email the embassy for your interview appointment.

Thanks for that advice, Shawn. So far our application is at NVC, and I will definitely e-mail the embassy as soon as I know it's there.
