I've kinda always wanted to be a photographer, but to do so it takes a lot of time, patience, and most of all MONEY. I've always taken a ton of pictures at different events (or for no reason at all). I always wanted to take photography in high school, but my school didn't offer it. Well, one year in college I was able to take a black and white photography class.I wanted to take more because I fell in love with photography even more. Unfortunately the school I was going to specialized in photography and the only way I could take any more classes was to be in the actual program (which i couldn't afford).

I bought a Nikon N55 which is an SLR camera (this was a classic black and white class not digital... i kinda wish now it were digital because I want one of those digi SLRs SO bad) We had to buy all of our own developing supplies as well... Film reels, developer, finisher, umm some other chemical I forgot the name of (for keeping water spots off), photo paper, developing tank for the film, etc etc etc.

My time in the photo lab was unforgettable. One day a week I got to spend 3 hours in the dark room. It seriously was the coolest thing ever. That class was the only one I never skipped. I would even go in on my free time during lab hours to develop my negatives/pictures.

Here are some samples of some of the photos I took in that class...

I haven't had much time to be really creative lately with photography and I hardly ever use my SLR anymore... I just use my lil Canon digi for everything because it's not so big and bulky. Can't really do any cool effects with it either, but it takes some pretty snazzy little photos as well. Anyway, hope you all enjoyed!!

This last one here is obviously a combination of two photos... the technical term is called a "sandwich". You get this affect by putting both negatives on top of each other. Pretty cool, huh?? : )

I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!

I have a growing collection of black and white photography. One of my favorite is a Brazilian by the name of Sebastiao Salgado from the collection Movimento Dos Sem Terra.

Here is a site about him.... he is more of a socially conscious photographer. Here is a link http://www.terra.com.br/sebastiaosalgado/. You could also see some of his work as well.

Those are awesome!!!! What I don't like about all the digital stuff is that people always brush their photos up. I want to learn how to take great pictures, not make them great after the fact..you know?

I love that beach picture kiki of the girl and the waves. Just awesome.

I know what you mean about everyone brushing their stuff up... but Marie! I think we have the same taste, because my favorite is the one with the little girl too!! :D

I love your pictures. I love the picture of the VW the best.

I have some pictures that Millie took when she was about three. My artsy neighbors said I should put them up in some gallery somewhere. I'll dig them up and put em up here.

Marie... i too love that one all because of the shadows... I actually used that photo as a project in my drawing class too because it was so neat!

Oh and that VW is my brother's! I love that car!
