So far I've loved all the books by Allende. My absolute fav is Ines of My Soul. Wonderful writer.

I have only read House of the Spirits (is that right?) It was very good, but such a long time ago. I like that supernatural kind of writing.

House of Spirits is the one I read too. I enjoyed it. Reminded me of 100 Years of Solitude.

yeah.. I actually read them both ...GGM and Allende's books.....in the same class...that is how I know it was YEARS ago. Maybe we should be picking one of these for the next read. Are either of you reading Until I Find You?

I am still listening to The Alienist (Caleb Carr) during my commute. Once I finish, I'll get Until I Find You and listen to it again. I am reading Kaffir Boy at home (it's about Apartheid), but I can only get in about 30 min a day of reading while nursing my son before bed.

You can read while you nurse? I became such a couch potato and tv addict, because of the nursing. I can't hold a book and nurse at the same time. :) impressive

I am trying to wean now, but la gritona won't have it. I wanted to stop when they reached a year......:(

I'm not able to join the book club since I have about 7 other books to read. So no more library or Borders trips until I finish the ones I have. :)

I lay the book out flat on the bed, sit indian style and hold baby C in my lap propped up on pillows. If I lean way over, forwards, I can read and turn pages with the hand that is not holding the baby. He doesn't seem to mind.

I wanted to start weaning C now that he is one week shy of his first birthday, but with daddy gone now that is not going to happen! I hope to at least get him on whole milk during the day, so I can stop dragging that wretched pump to work everyday!

Salsa that's a good idea. I couldn't do very much as I breastfed my son but now I know for the next one. I planned on nursing him for the year but he ended up weaning himself.
