I was removed from the US(ATL airport) in June 2004
Got married in June 2005
Interviewed May 2006 (with I-130 approved)
Had to file waiver I-212 because of removal. Filed in Atlanta because Lima embassy doesn't accept just 1 waiver (didn't need I-601 because was never illegal in the US)

Filed I-212 in ATL July 2006:

December we sent a letter asking for our case. They sent a response 1 week after (so quick) saying that the form...(they put any form but 212) it is being checked in 2005 so figure out how long it will take your case. Which make no sense cause we were not asking for that form.

Senator started to help us by checking how the waiver was going. She answer to forget about the letter we received cause was a mistake. In january we received an email from the senator saying our case will be checked ASAP.

February we got another email saying they made a mistake again and a new person was hired to be in charge of those cases (waivers) and that she doesnt know much about it so she just have 1 week a month to check them and there were still many cases before us.

May we got another email saying finally the person will see our case the first week of june.

July we got the last email saying the waiver was approved and it is at the directors office to be signed. That was almost a month ago and we haven't got any approval letter yet.

I can conclude saying I wish I overstayed my tourist visa in the US so I could have filed I-601 together with I-212 in Lima and they just take about 4 months to approve it!

Hello Cecilia!!
Congratulations on your approval. I am sorry it took you so long, exactly one year, right? Thanks God your waiver is being granted and you are ready to go back. You can call the embassy and find out if they have received the approval report or letter. In my case, I got the approval of my waivers( appeals) sent to my house (in USA) and my lawyer for some reason did not get it. I called the embassy anyway and still took them 4 month to set up my appointment date for my visa interview.
About your coment on overstaying your tourist visa, I would say that nobody really knows if your waivers were going to be granted in those 4 months. So, I think that eventhough it took you one whole year, you are still in a better situation that many others, like myself , that needed to go thru the appeal process and being denied couple of times. CONGRATULATIONS ONE MORE TIME.

God bless you

Hi Billchris,

I just saw your reply on this....

Why did the embassy here take 4 months to give you the interview??? that sounds terrible, I called them friday they made the request and told me i will get this week the date of the interview that will be in about 1 month....but why 4!! you just scared me very bad!

Thank you for your words, I understand there are cases a lot worse than mine, no one really should go through something like this.

Best, C

"Senator started to help us by checking how the waiver was going."

Which senetor helped you out?

We have filed I-212 in Cleveland. Which senetor could help us IF it takes a long time to process application?

Thanks.
