Obtaining an ITIN?

How do a person go about getting this. When my husband didn't have a SS# we tried to get one and we were told that he could not have one because his I94 was expired.

My husband got his through his bank (la gente banco).

You have to fill out at w-4 and submit it together with your tax return. Search for the w-4 on the IRS website. You mail everything to the address for the w-4. If you have any more questions I am sure I could help. My husband and I just did all this and recently got his number in the mail.
