View Full Version : wait time is 3 months, is it normal?
i just received an appointment notice for an interview. the whole case will only take 3 months (from the time i mailed all the docs till the interview) although i'm very glad it's so quick, i'm a little worried. the wait time for philadelphia is about 6 months according to uscis website and what i've heard. is it normal for it to be so quick?

When did you file and what type of case?

I know that the USCIS processing times are not really accurate. They typically list the latest date that they are processing petitions for, or if they are in compliancy with their own guidelines, they set that as a date. For example, if they say they are compliant when processing cases within 6 months, they will list 6 months out as the date they are working on.
In reality - a majority of the time - processing times are usually quicker than what is posted on their site. They can take longer...but they encourage you to do an inquiry if you fall outside of the listed dates.
I hope that helps.
oh, sorry
i filed the whole aos package ( i-130, i-485, etc) in the beginning of june, interview will be in the mid of sept

I would not be worried. Take the processing times on the website as a guess. Sometimes they are way ahead of that, and sometimes they are way behind. Its like the whole "It takes about 7-10 business days to process" that you get from some businesses, and sometimes their stuff arrives in the mail the next day, sometimes its even later than they say.
I doubt it means anything. There was a member on the board a while back that had their interview & were approved within 3 months, and the wait time for their area was over a year at the time.
Sometimes they will surprise you, especially if it is a fairly simple case.
Congrats on your interview!

i've also heard/read they are processing aos cases quicker so no application of ead would be needed. sounds like that is on track. :)
