About that native alphabet, that would be like if your spouse was Chinese, and they didn't use roman letters, the abcs, etc. If your spouse is from Mexico, your fine.

Welcome to the site Maria. Are you filing through Ciudad Juarez? Will you have to go there to file the I-601? There is lots of great information there (if you haven't already found it) to prepare for your interview. Good luck with the I-130!

An affidavit it kind of like a sworn statement. My mom just wrote a letter stating the she was witness to our wedding and that she has witnessed a true relationship between my husband and I. Then si said at the bottom that she swore the statements were true and signed it in front of a notary.

There is an example affidavit of birth in Example Forms and Documents (http://www.familybasedimmigration.com/forum/example.php) If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will see it under miscellaneous. It will give you an idea at least of what an affidavit may look like.
