My grandmother was born in the US but her parents went back to Mexico taking her with them. Then she came back and was here from about 1950-1961 when she was 16 she went back to mexico and had my mother. My mother is not a US citizen. My mom fell in love with my dad but then when she was about 13 her parents came to the US and she did a little bit of middle school and then started working over here. Since my mother was in love with my dad she went back to mexico got married and had me.
Now I want to study law in the US and have been looking at immigration laws i see that my mom could be a US citizen by birth....but im not sure if she wants to apply...is there any way that I could skip her and get US citizenship directly through my grandmother?

It does look that your mother has to be a U.S. citizen, but the closest page to the information you are looking for is http://travel.state.gov/family/adoption/info/info_456.html ...

Your grandmother cannot petition for you, but I would investigate your mom claiming her citizenship. The problem is, I don't think that makes you an automatic citizen, and parents petitioning for adult children have a long wait for a visa number.
Have you considered a student visa? That might be far less complicated...
