So I know that 212's at District offices don't get receipt notices, AND that the notices are taking months now to process anyway. How long do you think it is appropriate to wait before starting inquiries through a Senator?

I'm thinking 4 months is appropriate, just so they know that I am watching it and concerned and to make sure it isn't lost.

All I got was a cancelled/cashed check, there's no case number or anything on the back.

I'm on the same boat. I filed I-212 to California for my husband since his I-130 was there....per our attorney. I got copy of the cancelled check but nothing else. No case # on the back. Inquired about it as USCIS in cali, dumb idiots sent reply twice with my I-130 receipt # when I was actually inquiring about I-212 case #. Got to frustrated so I involved the congressman of my district. Was not successful to get a decent reply. All we got is run around.

I filed I-212 in may, 2007!!! Still not heard anything and my husband got a visa interview Dec. 20th. Told him to take a copy of everything and slap on their face and ask them what the heck was going on.

good luck to your case.

yours should actually meet your I-130! Have you looked on www.uscis.gov?? The California Service Center is down to 6 month processing times!

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/Processtimes.jsp?SeviceCenter=CSC

Hopefully they are truthful and you are one lucky woman. If you get your congressman to check on it, you use the A # that you put on the 212 application to do your inquiry (usually the same A# that is on the deportation papers.)

Also, the people at the interview will probably not be able to tell him anything about the status as the 212 is adjudicated separately.

I have checked with USCIS with his old A# that was on deportation papers but those people can't tell me anything. They say they cannot locate anything under his name, birthdate, or A# or old social security #. Under his old SS #, they can see when he was deporated but nothing new.

Congressman did the same thing, I provided all the details of his deportation but no news.

If you say it goes to district office, then you think california might have forwarded to Delaware District office? If so, how can I contact district office overe there?

Thanks for sharing details, you've helped alot.

The form asks for it to be filed with the district office over the area of deportation, however; I have also read and been told that if you are filing at the same time as an I-130, like in your case, you can file them together...not sure, but it would be where you filed it and if they transferred it they are supposed to let you know.

I can't believe they won't tell your senator anything :(

Thank you! Me too...I'm just hoping they're being realistic on the posted processing times...

i dont understand why should we depend on processing time for i-212 under USCIS website when these forms are actually processed at district office? Is there a website for each district office to find out? California's processing time are not accurate at all. It's so pathetic that people like us who is trying to get our spouse to migrate to united states legally when others get to jump in the darn line and become first priority when they came to states illegally....they get chance first. I applied in May 2007 and now the wait time is 6 months because in June and August 2007 there were millions of people sent their petition.....I thought this was first come first serve........i guess nothing can be dependable in this country...just try our luck.....sorry for this long message but I'm just so frustrated.

If you sent it to California, they would--by what I've read--send you a notice if they had transferred it out.

So..if you sent it to California, then that processing time would directly affect you, also, the district offices have similar processing times, so that's why I'm hopeful about mine.

My husband just had his visa interview yesterday at Mumbai consulate. They asked him everything about how we met etc. My husband stayed in london for 5 years so they didn't give him visa because we are still waiting on police clearance certificate from UK. They told him that "complete your fingerprints today, send in your PCC for UK to local VFS office along with your passport and we will see". This is all. My husband asked what about 212 which we filed in U.S which is over 7 months ago, they said "send in PCC with passport and we will look at your case again, may be you will have to file 212 from here (india) again". WHAT THE F*&^K???? I'm not paying over $500 when USCIS already cashed my check for the 1st time when I filed.

We have such morons working at immigration, why these people don't give us exact information? If they know something about the case, just say it. It's frustrating because now we STILL don't know what happened to i-212. No one gives us an answer....congressman, senator, USCIS, lady in district office of philadelphia has a nasty attitude. Now my last choice is to fill out ombudsman form.
