Okay here goes, my son-in-law had his appointment 6 months ago, they called and said that he has been approved for the I-601, he and his son, my question is, my daughter says all the papers have been filed and paid for, all they needed was this I-601 approval for him to return. His appointment is on Monday. Will they be able to fly out on Tuesday or is there usually another waiting period? I am leary about getting the flight before the horse so to speak. Anyone had this experience I have been reading posts but there are so many. any comment would be appreciated. He is in Honduras.

Andi, congratulations on your SILs waiver approval. Just so you know, I would NOT make plans to fly out the day after based on my own experience. My husband (then fiance), spent three days in CDJ waiting for his visa. At the same time, there are others that are in and out with visa the same day or day after. If you don't mind running the risk of having to change the flight and pay change fees, then go for it.

Congratulations! Andi - if you can, please come back and post more information about their experience with the Consulate in Honduras. I know a number of people would love to have some more information. 6 months by the way, that is pretty damn good!

Andi, Do you know, is your daughter posting on here too, or is this another approval from Honduras? That's really great if it is. When was his appointment? We're a few days away from our 6 month mark, so I'm wondering if we'll be hearing something very soon.

In Honduras when a preson is approved for the waiver they have them come back in for the visa pick-up. He will drop his passport off at the embassy in the morning and will be told to return that afternoon around 3 or 4 to pick it back up with the visa stamps in it and with the manilla envelope with all his paperwork in it that he is going to turn in at the entry point. Anyway, hope this enfo. helps. We didn't buy my husbands ticket till he had the visa in hand but this is how it went.

It's about 6-8 months, but lately it seems it's taking 6. In my humble opinion, it seems honduras is as lenient if not more than CDJ. I've had friends file through there and their hardships weren't that extreme and all have gotten approved.

In my openion Honduras is not as lenient as CDJ at all. When I was going through this process through Honduras with my husband we had our first waiver denied and filed a MTR which they kept for 6 months then refused to accept. We then filed a new waiver and waited almost 9 months before that one was finally approved. My husband spent 2 years and 3 months in Honduras while we were fighting to get a waiver approved. Granted part of this was with one adj. and part with another. It still took us a long time and a whole lot of money.

That is such a wonderful thing to hear. I was thinking the same thing. For the past couple of weeks I have been hearing about alot of approvals. I hope ours is coming soon!!!

Andi congrats on the approval for you son-in-law!!!
