On Monday morning I e-mailed the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala because I wanted to know my husbands case status. They e-mailed me stating that according to their records, the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala city has not yet received the approved petition for this case. If your case has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security, I may contact NVC for further information.
I thought that NVC approved the cases or am I wrong? Does DHS approve the case first and then contacts NVC and then NVC contacts the Embassy?
My husbands I-130 was approved on March 07, and on August 07, NVC e-mailed me stating that the last package was processed on that month, (Marriage License, Police Records, Birth Certificate, DS-230 I & II).
I would appreciate any information because I'm confused, I don't know what's going on, my husband will have 10 months in Guatemala and we just need the appointment along with the medical exam.

Any feedback please!

NVC has to review your complete package when they are finished they close the case and NVC schedules the appointments. The Guatemala consulate will not have any information until you have an appointment and the package is sent to them from NVC after that all your communication is with Guatemala if you call NVC with any questions they will direct you to the Guatemala Consulate. When you call NVC ask them on what date your case has been concluded? and what is the usual wait time for an appointment to be asssigned? Good Luck

Thank you for the information, so once your case is completed then you just need to wait for your interview. What worries me is that every time I call NVC they tell me that my case has been completed on August 22, 2007 but they don't know when my interview will be.
I hope that it doesn't take too long, but I will keep on calling them.
By any chance do you of anyone else that has filled in the U.S.? I would like to know their timeline.

Thank you,

Wow, we practically have the same time line. On March 2007 my I-130 was approved and I send all the rest of the forms on April, May etc... and on August 22 of 2007 NVC completed my case, just a few days before you and you received an interview right away, man you are so lucky!
Now I just need to wait and I hope my husband receives an interview date pretty soon.
I'm a little sad because on January I was planning to go to Guatemala, but they denied my sons passport because we need a form called DS-3053, which my husband needs to go to the Consulate and get the form and sign it in front of a notary, so that pushes our date to February.
My husband better get it or I will kill him!!!!!!
Thank you for your time line.
Well, I'm going to PRAY and PRAY and with god's will we should have an interview date pretty soon.

YRuth, I will pray for you too and hope your husband sends you the notarized letter. When I traveled to Guatemala City for his appointment I really liked the city but specially the people. My mother in law dressed me in the tradicional attire and I really liked it. I can't wait to go back and bring my husband back home.
