Hello,
I have a question. My husband is from Guatemala and I'm a USC. My husband left on February 07- volunteer departure and our I-130 got approved on March 07. On August 22 the last package was processed at NVC, but I been calling and sending e-mails to see when my husband's interview will take place. This is my question, has anybody experienced the waiting period for an interview in Guatemala? I'm so stressed out because he will have 10 months in January and nothing yet.
:sad:I just hope that I hear from NVC pretty soon. I would appreciate if anyone that's going through Guatemala may give me some feedback.
Thank you,
JennyM

YRuth: Trying contact the NVC to see if they are setting up the appointment or if the Consulate in Guatemala are doing it. I know SEG 79 missed his first appointment and had to wait another 4 months because he received the letter after his appointment date. Try calling the Guatemala Embassy and ask them.
Also, I think SEG 79 posted his comments here. Go back and research and see what he had to say about this -- whether it was NVC or the Embassy that messed him up. Do it immediately because if you sent in all the paperwork in August, your date should be coming up soon.

You say that your case was processed on August 22 but do you know if your case is complete? did you send originals of documents?. Two days after they received my originals with DS-230 part II the case was complete. A friend who had her appointment in Guatemala told me that is taking two months to receive an appointment I received my apointment in 15 days but it was a mistake by NVC who assigns the appointments and I had to call Guatemala and they gave me a new date as my friend said it was 2 months after. If you are summiting a waiver you will need to wait 5 to 6 more months to be aproved. In Guatemala the consulate calls when they receive the aproval so we are waiting for a call March or April 2008.

Yes, Socorro I send the originals already, our marriage license, police records, birth certificate, DS-230 I and II, and everytime I call NVC, they say that for the month of XXX your husband does not have an appointment etc....
I will call the embassy and see what they say.
Thank you,

YRuth,
We are also waiting for my husband's interview to be scheduled. We submitted the I-130 directly with the US Embassy in Guatemala so our process is different. However, when we submitted the final papers needed for his interview to be scheduled in September 2007, they told us to expect his interview in November or December. Its December and they now say February. I really hope that they don't continue to push the date back. Its all very frustrating because the phone operators are not always kind or helpful. Try sending them an email - GuatemalaIV@state.gov
Good luck.

Wow! Why do they keep pushing the date back? Are the next ones who get the pilot program!?!?!?! woo hoo! I'm thinking positive.

That sounds really good. The pilot program started in April so the end of April of 2008 they decide if the program was beneficial to the system and they implement the program on other countries. That would be wonderful to go for the interview and come back with a visa. Eventhough the wait for the waiver in Guatemala is 5-6 months it is still hard to be separated at the end of our process it would be 9 months. I can understand why YRuth is so despertate after 10 months + waiting for appointment + 5 to 6 months more :shy:

There is no pilot program in Guatemala. The pilot program they are referring to is consulate in Mexico only right now. They have talked about instituting it in other countries but nothing yet.
If you have to file a waiver through Guatemala, 6 months minimum to obtain an answer on your I-601 waiver unless you qualify for an expedite.
