Hello everyone,
My cousin's mom finally received her consular interview in CDJ, Mexico, for Dec 21st.
Here's some info on their case:
-My cousin is the USC, over 21
-Cousin's mom is from Mexico, and has never been in the US (will not need an I-601 waiver)

As far as I know, she will only need to do the medical exam, and show up for the interview, at which her visa will be granted right away.

Has anyone gone through this? We're not sure what documentation she will need for the interview. Can anyone please share their experiences, and what to bring?

Thanks for the help.

Azul,
On The Appointment Letter They Tell You What To Bring. Also She Will Need Her Police Report And All The Paperwork They Have Filed. Just In Case. For Family The Most Important Thing Is To Show Relationhsip And The Affidavit Of Support. If The Affidavit Isn't Enough They Will Give Her Around A Month To Find Another Sponsor. If She Has Pictures Or Anything That Proves That Your Cousin Is His Or Her Mom

Mexican applicants don't need the police report/certificate though, because it's not available.

Azul, I think it will work just like any of the immigrant visa interviews, minus the part where they tell the person they are denied for unlawful presence. Lots of luck!

Well, my cousin's stepmom (I forgot to mention it was for her stepmom, not birth mom) went to her interview on Friday, but it didn't go well. I haven't talked to my cousin yet, she's in Mexico for the holidays, but this is what one of my mom's brother told her on Monday... they didn't give her the visa because her husband's last name is not on her marriage certificate, WTH! :curse: It's Mexico, wives don't take their husband's last name... if anything, some just add the "de" part to the end: Maria Perez de Lopez (Lopez being the husband's last name).
Like I said, I don't know the full story, but "apparently" the consular officer told her not to worry, that her case would be combined with her children's (my cousin's 2 brothers and sister, living in MX) and would be considered one "packet" and at that point they wouldn't have to come back to CDJ, instead all the processing would be done in Guadalajara. So they turned around and went back to their hometown, with no visa.
I plan on calling my cousin tonight to get the details, because from what I understand, CDJ is the only US consulate that processes immigrant visas, all others do tourist/student/business visas, which are all non-immigrant. Also, my cousin's siblings fall under the 4th visa preference, which means a visa number won't become available until after 13 years! I believe my cousin filed the petition back in 2001, so they still have 7 years to go. This is so messed up! I hope I can get a hold of my cousin to find out what actually happened.
I'll keep you all posted.
