I love Chunky Monkey!:bounce:
Also try potato chips and chocolate. For those times of the month, it will satisfy the salt and sweet that we all crave. :D I will take a bite of hershey bar and then a couple chips and chew together, sounds gross, but very satisfying.

I wish I had never tried I either! I think they had women in mind when they created it - the perfect mix of salt and sweet. Thankfully my lastest obsession is Helado de Limon, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to find it in the US!

Coldstone is so dangerously delicious!!! When I was still managing a Qdoba, my store was in a strip mall with a Coldstone, and anytime I would be stressed (which was quite regular) I was go get a ridiculous dish of ice cream. I'm still working that weight off a year later!!!

I love coldstone as well....for me - its the coffee lovers dream (or something like that) .... coffee flavored ice cream, almonds, heath bars and caramel ... I have done remarkably well this summer so far...only had it 3 times! :) (Last year, I think it was more like 3 times a week....no wonder I started dieting in January! It wasnt really the baby weight that did it...;) )
Angela - you shouldnt have mentioned the pumpkin pie one....I sense an addiction coming all over again. Lately - its been the pumpkin loaf from starbucks most mornings....once I discovered that, I cant resist it...

Same here princesa - that seems to be the staple food when we have birthdays at our house. Although - I must admit - I am not the greatest mexican cook - so my hubby helps out a lot.
For my sons birthday party though - a couple of weeks ago - since he didnt feel like cooking - his answer - was lets just go buy everything from the market. Let me say - everything tasted good, but $90 some dollars later - we won't be doing that again!!!!
Definately way more cheap to prepare it all ourselves....I just wish I could learn to make tamales....we spent $50 alone just on buying them!!!
Something weird (to me) that he ate the other day was fresh cucumbers, with salt, lime juice and hot sauce....goes along with the fries/lemon juice/hot sauce....

mm, that is good! my sister-in-law's suegra sells quesadillas from their house on the weekends, and sometimes they make and sell platanos con lechera. I just love lechera in general - even though it is super sweet we put it on pancakes, bread, muffins or ice cream for a really sweet treat.
one time I got platanos with valentina and everyone thought it was just the weirdest thing ever - but I thought it was pretty tasty. Valentina goes with almost anything!!

Cottage cheese with frito-lays. OMG, I secretly eat it at work (in my classroom) when my other co-workers are munching away on their salads. Such a guilty pleasure! I eat it about once a month, or when it's especially hot. Luckily, I work in San Francisco, so we have about 10 extremely hot (Okay, about 85 degrees:shy:) days a year.
Oh and Grits? I thought it was a thing that Flo said on the show Alice in the 70's or 80's. "Kiss my Grits" - you member?
But then one day, I had breakfast at my friend's house and she served it to her kids. I was like... whoa. I didn't taste them. They just didn't appeal to me.

you know you can make dulce de leche with regular condensed milk by pouring it in a pan, placing that pan inside a larger pan filled halfway with water (enough so that the water goes higher than the leche) and baking it for 3 or 4 hours.

My husband makes this extremely spicey salsa from serrano peppers and lime juice and puts it on fried plantains, sometimes brushed with sugar, and serves it as a dessert. It's awesome!

I was just reading this post...LOL and it has made me laugh and go "ewww" and some of your mixes!!
I have a guilty love for:
throwing Raisinettes on my popcorn at the movies.
I LOVE pickle juice on cucumbers...weird..I know. But sooo delicions. If you have a jar of pickles left over with the juice, place some cucumber chunks in there and leave for a day. Then you take it out and sprinkle some salt and some trechas seasoning. UHHHH to die for..
I also LOVE fries with my Frostys.
cheetos and cream cheese are soo good and naughty.
I like mixing my rice and beans. Oh and my mole and rice too.
Oh and I like pouring corn on my nachos...they are sooo good.
Oh and cheese in my frito pie so good too!!
Ramen noodles with cream cheese..yummy!! mix some corn in...even more yummy...
Real recipe --> jalapeno raspberry preserves mixed with cream cheese on melba toast!! This is too good!!
Ok those were my 2 cents. :)

I had this when I was in Texas and it was awesome!
I have so many weird food combinations, but some I can think of right now are:
- black beans with sour cream and lemon juice.
- chicken ramen noodles (with the broth drained out after the seasoning is mixed in, so it's just the noodles) with tuna and pickles mixed in. YUM!
- white rice and A1 sauce or white rice and salsa (everytime I do this my fiance thinks it's so funny for some reason)

My husband got me hooked on those RITZ Air Crisps dipped in chocolate.:D Wow, those are really good! One day we were craving something salty, sweet, and crunchy to munch on and all we had were a bag of chocolate morsels and RITZ. So my husband mixed these up and came up with a really good snack!
Does anyone ever add mustard to their arroz? My husband always adds mustard and at first I thought it was kinda gross, but when I tried it I was hooked. Now, whenever I make arroz con pollo I always add the mustard!
My little quirk is to drink the juice straight from the pepperoncini bottle!:D I love that stuff!

My fiance got a gift box one day in the mail. I had just made a run to Wendys and when he opened the box it had some tshirts and different stuff his mom sent. Also included were chapulines (grasshoppers) and he was SO happy. He opened the bag and sprinkled them on his burger and in chilli!!!! Yuck

hmmm...you'd think that customs would seize chapulines! or can you bring in foodstuffs as long as they're non-perishable? that would be good to know cause i would like to bring back some oregano because real mexican oregano is not the same as what they sell here...

You can bring back food....not sure what the guidelines are though. I bring back bricks of chocolate de oaxaca and mole everytime I go. Once going through the agricultural inspection the guys in front of me had dried meat, and lots of other foods....again, don't know what the guidelines are....

The best (in my opinion) mexican hot chocolate. You know with cinnamon, almonds, raw cocoa. LOVE IT! You can buy in in Mexico City and probably almost anywhere I would guess. My husband's family is from Oaxaca, so they only buy it from a few select places---and especially like the stuff that comes from the small town of Juquila. My MIL makes it for me almost every night when I am there. With pan dulce....yum...

OMG one of the best mexican stores in b-more is called la juquilita and the owners are from juquila!!!!! BUT it is a ropa vaquera and music store and they do not have food products...but maybe i will ask them next time i am there and they might know where i can get some...not like i need to know cause i'm going to the DF during my sojourn next month (eek) so i wiill look for it there. i mean, they sell abuelita and ibarra here but i am assuming what you are talking about is the real stuff, not factory processed. i am making it my mission to try chapulines too. my husband (who eats ant eggs as a delicacy) says they're gross, go figure...but i asked him again if i could find them in hidalgo and he said yes (he told me no before, too far north) but just packaged in mercados, not like fresh on the streets...
