hmm, i saw something similar on the "i-team investigates" portion of our local news...well i just applied to add my husband to my health insurance and i HOPE it goes through. i saw something on the open enrollment site about providing SSNs by 12/31 for all dependents, but i submitted our marriage cert to the benefits office a month ago and they haven't said anything yet. i am praying he gets coverage because he has knee pain from years installing carpet and he'd like to have it looked at.

Anecdotally this seems so true to me! My husband never went to a traditional doctor the first five years he was in the U.S. I don't think. He had employer insurance when we were working together and would use it, but that's obviously not a "burden to society." My in-laws, none of whom have health insurance NEVER go to the doctor for anything! They certainly don't go to the emergency room if they have any small injury like these anti-immigrant crazies like to accuse. Anyway, interesting article. Thanks for posting Debenny!

I just added my husband to my company's insurance and they didn't ask for a SSN. He's been using it without any problems too! :thumbup:

My fiance has had jobs where they gave him medical and he refused to use it...
They would ask for SS# at my job...:(

You know what...I wrote a contrast and comparision essay for my writing class during the Marches and added proof of why I thought Illegal immigrants were not a burden and you know my teacher gave me a "D"? She told me that what I wrote about could not be proven and that my subject topic did not fit what kind of essay she requested from me. She wanted a Contrast and Compare so I compared the US with and without illegal immigrants. I took the report to the head lady at my school and she changed it to a "A-" and that teacher got scolded cause she used her person opinion to judge my paper. I hope she reads this.

Yes I added my hubby in Oct and they didn't ask for a social on him cause I am the primary name on the account.
