My husband just got his I-601 wavier approved on June 19th 2007....
How long is the wait to get his papers?
Second, Is there a rule that he is not allowed to leave the US? We will be close to Mexcio.... and would love to go and come when we get back home to Texas.

We sent our passport to Montreal as soon as we gotrthe approval e-mail. Make sure you send a prepaid canada xpress post envelope if you send the passport. It took 3 weeks for Montreal to get the paperwork from Vermont, and since Montreal had his passport and updated RCMP alreday, we got the visa in the mail about 3 days afer the paperwork got to the consulate from VSC.
Also, I think your guy had a waiver for CIMT, like my husband. Travelling is OK, but keep in mind that Canada/USA share info at the border about CIMT, so he may get secondary inspection the first time he travels and returns to the USA. My hubby got pulled aside at passport control when we came back to the USA from vacation last fall, cause the CIMT still shows on the US computers.

You can contact the consulate to get an appointment to get your passport stamped. If more than 1 year passed since you handed in your documents ( fingerprints, police report, medical and pictures ), you will have to redo these and bring them with you to the appointment. After the appointment, and everything is done, They will tell you to come back later in the afternoon to pick up your packet and passport. DO NOT OPEN the packet. When you leave Canada, the customs will open the packet, ask some questions, and you will be on your way.
You should receive your permanent green card in about a month ( assuming that you have been married for 3 years or more ) and the social security card in about 2 months.
If you come with a permanent green card, your husband can come and go as he wishes within the same limits as other green card holders. I'm not sure about the procedure if your husband receives a conditional green card.

OK~
So I should call to the Montreal embassy and make an appt? I just looked at my husbands reciept for his medical and it is dated 3-27-2006. I will have to have my man get another medical, right?
I mailed out for a new set of finger prints from the RCMP.. should be getting those any day.
he will have to re take passport pictures? Kenaly... should my man get those and send them asap to montreal?

Married 3 or more years= 10 years green card.
We did not have to return to Montreal after approval.I just sent his passpprt and RCMP to them, and Montreal returned the visa to us. Call them and ask about his medical and your support documents, as you may need to update those also.

~BUMPED~
I just remebered that when my husband had his interview.... they ask him what he would like to do, have his visa mailed or to come in and pick it up in montreal..... I believe it was picked to go to montreal and pickup.... I am phoning today to get details.. Should I make an appointment for another medical and new photos for his passport? I am waiting for new finger prints from the RCMP...... Hope those things come in soon.
SLUBBERRY you mentioned a POLICE RECORD...... are you thinking the police check that comes with the finger prints that come from the RCMP?
Would love to hear from you all.... Thx

Probably ask Montreal about the updated forms you will need. No sense in getting new ones if you do not have to.
